Thumbs Up Thursday - White Noise

Wowzers I have been slacking on these. Sorry! Back to the routine!

Today's Thumbs Up Thursday is all about a magical app! (Just a brief note that I am not paid for any of this...although I'd like to be!! It's just my opinions on what's awesome)

The app is White Noise and it gets two thumbs up. Or four if you count Dan's. Six if you count Phoenix. But I digress. This app is magical. Is just white noise, but man it calms the baby down! We practice The Happiest Baby on the Block's 5S's, which is about how to keep a baby call by mimicking the womb. Apparently it's pretty loud in there, and I can only believe it because the proof is in the pudding! We tried white noise machines and they were never loud enough. So here it is :

Wordless Wednesday...what did you expect?

Trim Tuesday - Silver Sneakers

**EDIT for some reason this never published yesterday, sorry!***

Dan and I are pretty sure we're done having babies. I wouldn't be at all upset if I got pregnant again, I love the idea of a big family, but I have some health problems associated with pregnancy (aka scary high blood pressure) so I don't think it's something we will purposely do. I would love to consider adoption some day, but that is a whole different can of worms.

So because in theory my body is done with the drastic changes that are involved with growing a human (or two) I am commuted to getting myself in shape - in my best shape.

I'm in a good place mentally today so I will share some numbers with you. Pre baby I hovered at a weight if 140#. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less but right around there (photo below) When I got pregnant with the twins I didn't have much of an appetite so I didn't gain much weight. I was put on strict bedrest so we moved in with my mom - she regularly put high protein food in front of me, so I put on most of my weight at that point (photo below of me two days before I delivered at about 190#, and of my peanuts 4#13 and 4#10). Between delivering and nursing I lost a ton of that weight quickly and through Weight watchers I managed to get back down to my 140# right around the boys first birthday. We found out we were expecting again and this pregnancy was different in that I was hungry. All. The. Time. I gained a total of 43# with Phoenix (photo while I was in labor below) and today he is three months old. I still am hovering around 165#-170#. Not good - they weren't kidding when they say its harder to loose baby weight the second time around! My goal is to get back to prepregnancy by August -nine months on, nine months off right? BUT more than the number on the scale, I want to be fit. I want to feel good about myself, I want to be to toned.

So what am I doing? Well I'm trying Weight Watchers again. For some reason I'm having trouble sticking to it this time. And I'm trying to stay active. My mom and I are taking a water class on Wednesday evenings, and we are planning to join the YMCA very soon. I've also been getting up most mornings and walking at the mall before it opens - I just can't keep using the boys, the cold, etc as an excuse. I wear Phoenix and push the boys - they all seem to enjoy it, especially since the big boys get play after it (pics below). Each loop through the mall is a half mile - and it feels so good to get out of the house and see people - even if it is just the grandparently types. The best part is coming home with energy!

So there you have it. Time to be the best me. The last picture is my motivation. I don't know who the girl is - but she is stunning. Curvy, trim, toned - but not a size zero.

Mealtime Monday - Chaos

I really love the Blogger App. Im nursing P as Iwrite this! Except that I can only post photos at the end of the post, and not in the body of the text. That's frustrating. I'm not sure if there is another way to do it, besides through Photobucket which is kinda a PITA.

Dinner time in our house is a little chaotic. I'm trying to figure out how to make it calmer. The pictures below are what 5-6:30 looks like usually. I've heard the term "witching hour" and it's oh so true. I feel so bad for Dan who often comes home in the midst of it.

I am hoping by having my dinners planned I can avoid some of this. I imagine the fact that I am distracted trying to figure out and make dinner doesn't help.

Now...how to create a meal plan that is healthy...inexpensive, and something we can stick to?

(Enjoy the P cuteness!)

Family Friday - Introductions

I would briefly like to apologize if formatting is off. I'm trying out mobile posting! Today is a day for introductions!

Meg - this is me! I'm not sure how to describe myself. I'm living my dream as a stay at home mom - although I gripe about it a lot - I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm slightly "crunchy" and take pride in my eccentric-ness to a degree.

Dan - my husband of five years and an amazing father. He's working hard this year to better himself he's lost a ton of weight, is working out and eating right and he serves as an inspiration to me every day.

Max and Dex - are my two year old identical twins. Both boys' personalities are just starting to shine and I can't wait to see who they become as they get older

P - Phoenix is my baby. At not even three months old he has me entirely smitten!

Sully and Kolby - my pups. Sully is an Aussie mix and is the sweetest and gentlest dog. Kolby is a lab mix that is handicapped - but don't tell him that. He was born missing his front leg, and his other front leg is deformed. He is the HAPPIEST animal ever.

Thor and Sahara - the kitties. Thor is evil in feline form - except to us. And Sahara came to us from a dear friend and is just finding her place in our family.

And that's us!

Welcome!

Not sure where to begin for this blog for now. I've started a few blogs in the past, but never kept with it - I'm hoping this one sticks.

I intend to do themes - hopefully that will encourage me to write since I will have a plan for where that day's blog post will go.

- Mealtime Mondays, where I will be talking about all things food related including meal plans and recipes.
- Trim Tuesdays are dedicated to everything I am doing to try to be healthy!
Wordless Wednesdays are pretty self explanatory.
- Thumbs Up Thursdays will be about products I love. Down the line I hope to review products as well!
- Family Fridays will be all about whats happening in my crazy family.
- Wildcard Weekends are just like they sound!

I hope to keep this blog full of pictures since lets be honest, those are the most fun to read!

What do you want to see me talk about? Anything you want me to review? I would love feedback!!!

Smile more!
